EXCLUSIVE: Chris Messina (Air), Michael Peña (Ant-Man), and Esai Morales (Mission: Impossible) will star alongside Sam Rockwell and Maisy Stella in Tumor, a psychological thriller we announced last year ahead of AFM, which has now wrapped production in Los Angeles.
Marking writer-director Will Bridges’ follow-up to the Apple sci-fi romance All of You, starring Brett Goldstein and Imogen Poots, Tumor delves into the story of a low-level Los Angeles private investigator (Rockwell). When the daughter (Stella) of a wealthy businessman (Morales) goes missing, he embarks on a mission into the world of L.A.’s young, privileged elite to track her down. Wildly out of his depth and battling the debilitating symptoms of a late-stage brain tumor, his grasp on reality becomes increasingly precarious. As the unlikely duo sets out on the run, old memories blur with the present, dredging up dark secrets from his past.
Character details for Messina and Peña are under wraps. Gigi Zumbado (The Lincoln Lawyer) also appears in the film in a supporting role.
Daniela Taplin Lundberg is producing for Stay Gold Features, alongside Christopher Leggett of Delirio Films. Aaron Ryder & Andrew Swett of Ryder Picture Co, Vanessa Mendal of Stay Gold Features, Rafael Marmor of Delirio Films, and Eddie Rubin are executive producing. 1846 Studios is serving as a production partner with MJ Anderson as executive producer.
UTA Independent Film Group and WME Independent are co-repping U.S. sales with AGC International handling rights in the rest of the world. Financing and production legal is being handled by Hamish Berry and Eugene Pikulin of 3B Law.
Recently cast in the next season of HBO’s The White Lotus, with the StudioCanal D-Day pic Pressure coming up for release on May 29, Messina is represented by Entertainment 360, CAA, and Sloan, Offer, Weber & Dern.
Most recently seen starring in the Peacock series All Her Fault, Peña’s upcoming slate includes the Amazon MGM films Judgment Day and Subversion. He is repped by CAA, Entertainment 360, and attorney Rick Genow.
Coming off roles in War Machine and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Morales is repped by Innovative Artists and Feig Finkel.
Zumbado is repped by Innovative Artists and Artists First.
