EXCLUSIVE: Prime Video‘s Scarpetta has assembled the new cast additions for Season 2, which started production last month in Nashville. David Arquette (The Mess We Made), Jodi Balfour (For All Mankind), William Zabka (Cobra Kai), Stella Baker (The Republic of Sarah), Kim Dickens (Deadwood), Troy Garity (Barbershop), Jerod Haynes (The Greatest), Michael “Killer Mike” Render (The Lowdown) and Holland Taylor (The Morning Show) are set to recur in the new installment of the forensic crime thriller from Blumhouse Television.
They join returning main cast members Nicole Kidman, who stars as Medical Examiner Kay Scarpetta and Jamie Lee Curtis, who stars as her sister Dorothy Farinelli, Bobby Cannavale as Detective Pete Marino, Simon Baker as FBI profiler Benton Wesley, Ariana DeBose as Kay’s tech-savvy niece Lucy Farinelli Watson as well as Rosy McEwen, Amanda Righetti, Jake Cannavale, and Hunter Parrish, who portray younger versions of Kidman, Curtis, Cannavale, and Baker’s characters, respectively.
Jake Cannavale is son of Bobby Cannavale; Stella Baker is daughter of Simon Baker.
Developed and written for television by Liz Sarnoff based on Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling Kay Scarpetta book series, Scarpetta had received a two-season order by Prime Video, which explains why the series started filming on Season 2 shortly after Season 1 premiered on March 11. Through 28 days, the first season has garnered 34 million viewers, per Amazon.
Scarpetta is executive produced by Kidman and Per Saari through Blossom Films, Curtis through Comet Pictures, showrunner Sarnoff through Sarnoff TV, Cornwell through P & S Projects, as well as Jason Blum, Melissa Aouate and Chris Dickie through Blumhouse Television. David Gordon Green and Jeremy Gold also serve as executive producers. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse Television in association with Blossom Films, Comet Pictures, and P&S Projects.
Arquette recently wrapped production on Evil Genius, alongside Patricia Arquette and David Harbour, and The Mess We Made with Molly Ringwald and Grace Beedie. He’s repped by Lighthouse Entertainment, Artium Talent, and Brecheen Feldman Breimer Silver Thompson.
Balfour is known for her work on The Crown, Ted Lasso, HBO’s Quarry and Apple TV’s For All Mankind, among others. She’s repped by Thruline Entertainment.
Baker is known for the titular role in CW’s The Republic of Sarah. She also starred in Amazon’s Tell Me Your Secrets and CW’s Walker: Independence. Baker is repped by Gersh, Untitled, and United Management
Dickens most recently wrapped Netflix feature Saturn Return and will next begin shooting Netflix’s An Innocent Girl. She also can be seen in Amazon’s The Better Sister. Dickens is repped by Gersh and Untitled Entertainment.
Garity recently wrapped filming Billings opposite Alexander Ludwig and Carla Gugino. Other credits include Bull Run, Netflix’s On The Verge and HBO’s Ballers. Garity is repped by Untitled Entertainment.
Haynes’ film credits include Southside With You and Benji. On the television side, he was a series regular on NBC’s Redliners and Mike Daniels’ The Village. Haynes is repped by Ethos Entertainment and Verve.
Killer Mike earned three Grammy awards for his 2023 album Michael. His film work includes Baby Driver, Idlewild and ATL, and he recently recurred on FX’s The Lowdown. He’s repped by WME and Will Bronson Active Management.
Emmy-winning Taylor will next be seen in Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson’s Apple TV comedy series Brothers. She recently appeared on Apple TV’s The Morning Show and recurred on Showtime’s Billions. Taylor is repped by Gersh.
Zabka is known for his role of Johnny Lawrence in The Karate Kid franchise, which he reprised in Cobra Kai. Other credits include films Just One of the Guys, National Lampoon’s European Vacation and Back to School and CBS’ The Equalizer. Zabka is repped by Advanced Management & Feig Finkel.
